Lightspeed Champion 15 May 2008

Lightspeed Champion

Omg, it is Lightspeed Champion versus all of Brazil. Or at least a handful of Brazil. Ok, let me tell you I’ve been waiting a few months for the remixes of “Galaxy of the Lost” to drop, and guess what… they’re not being released. So here we are with Database, Bo$$ in Drama annnnnnnd Bonde do Role. Hmm. To pick a favorite: I think I gotta go with Bo$$ because of the vocal stuff he did, but all the mixes are rad for such different reasons. Which is your fav? Collect them all!

autoKratz

autoKratz is dropping their next release “Stay the Same” on Kitsuné this June. You can stream it over on their MySpace to get a tease. To hold us over though they gave us their new mix — perfect for heading into Summer. Watch out for the BIGSTEREO favs on this one:

Zeigeist 14 May 2008

Zeigeist - “The Lake” (MySpace)

Remember all the confusion a couple years back over Zeigeist and people thought they were a secret Knife side project and stuff? Well, fast forward to now and the band is not the Knife, and they’ve finally released their debut album: The Jade Motel. Totally worth the wait. If you’ve been bored by the explosion of meritless blog house bangers then this might be the temptation your senses have been waiting for… like water in the desert.

If you make only one album purchase this year then The Jade Motel needs to be it. You can buy the album directly from Zeigeist here or at your favorite digital music store. Highly, highly recommended.

Big Face 14 May 2008

BIGFACE

Glasgow’s Big Face has been quiet for a few seconds, but they’ve been busy working on their debut album. They dropped us this little hint of things to come today — unmastered, but it definitely has a huge sports arena anthem feel to it. Big Face promises they’re album will be out before the end of the year… looking forward to it.

“I Wanna Be A Style Crusader” still remains one of my favs from 07:

Playdoe 14 May 2008

playdoe

Spoek + Sibot = Playdoe.

You’re already familiar with Spoek from Sweat.X… well Playdoe is his other project and is more proof that Spoek is a very promising new mc. The two just released their debut EP which delivers a healthy and much needed dose of a new breed of post-electro hip-hop.

Son Green 14 May 2008

Son Green

There seems to be some cool stuff coming out of Ireland of late. I really like the stuff JAPE has been doing. Son Green has taken his Jape remix the opposite direction in which the other remixes of floating have gone. Son Green’s tunes aren’t really suitable for the club, but I’m really getting into production which is a bit off centre. Everything seems to be sounding the same of late. Son Green certainly doesn’t.

Christopher Robin 13 May 2008

christopher robin

Friends Christopher Robin sent me over their latest remix of young Sydney kids Amy Meredith. I really really really love this remix. An Amy Meredith accapella is floating around so expect some more remix’s of Amy Meredith to be popping up in the blog world soon.

Ladyhawke + Alex Gopher 12 May 2008

Ladyhawke

Modular has been gearing up Ladyhawke to be one of its biggest acts — hello Ms. Modular ‘08. And the label hasn’t been shy with the remixes for her. “Back of the Van” saw mixes from Van She Tech, Mock & Toof and Fred Falke… her new single “Paris is Burning” is due out June 30th with mixes by Peaches, Kid Gloves and Alex Gopher.

We were slipped Alex Gopher’s remix and couldn’t be more thrilled. It is a hot little disco track that leaves one of the original’s best parts — hand claps! Really though, with Ladyhawke it is all about the vox. Pretty hard to do wrong to those.

Anyone remember this??

The Black Ghosts 12 May 2008

Ok, if you read this blog on a regular basis you know my obsession with The Black Ghosts. It’s kinda creepy. But being creepy paid off. The Black Ghosts teamed up with CULT-GEIST to have a video commissioned for each song from their debut album due for release July 8th on IAMSOUND Records. IAMSOUND asked MISSINGTOOF and BIGSTEREO to premier the videos each week leading up to the album release (alternating between the two of us). By the end you’ll have peaked at the entire album.

This week’s video is for “Anyway You Choose To Give It” and directed by Koke Jaramillo and Luka Marchant. It features some morphing effects and some breathtaking animation. I was hooked the entire video and that says a lot because I have the attention span of a three year old:

La Chansons 12 May 2008

La Chansons

“Sparklin” is my fav song off La Chansons’ Love Love Love All Day — they recently gave the track a bit of a facelift and now it is even more of a favorite. Such a perfect little pop song… all about rediscovering yr youth through a pair of twenty year old skates. We were solid gold… mm, La Chanson are solid gold.

La Chansons - “Sparklin” (new mix) (mp3)

Oh, and exciting — Dan Geller of I Am The World Trade Center is working on a remix of these guys. Perfect pairing!

Peaches 9 May 2008

Peaches - “Get It” (YouTube, thank you GSD)

The best Peaches ever — so perfect. Kinda reminds me of one of Adrian Piper’s early art projects… or maybe just a modern retelling of Rapunzel. I would’ve loved to witness the random people who witnessed the filming of this…

Le Corps Mince de Françoise 7 May 2008

Le Corps Mince de Françoise

Woah, I am in blogglove. Le Corps Mince de Françoise is so fucking wacky. Perhaps CSS would’ve nerded out like this had they been born in Helsinki. Or they kinda remind me of Chicks on Speed re-imagined for 2010. And yeah, well it may be way too early to declare this, but Le Corps Mince de Françoise is my new favorite band even with only one song on their MySpace. “Cool and Bored” is just waiting to be the hipster anthem… watch out:
